Ministers have announced plans to introduce an Apprenticeship Levy for ‘large employers’ to fund the Government’s ambition for three million apprenticeship starts over the course of this Parliament.
The new levy is likely to have a significant impact on the delivery of apprenticeships and training across the construction sector as well as the future of CITB, and Build UK is working with other industry bodies to respond to the consultation by the deadline of 2 October.
We have developed a Build UK consultation paper which summarises the proposals to date along with our initial thoughts and we would welcome your feedback on a number of specific questions via this short online survey by Monday 14 September.
Whatever position the industry takes, it will be important that there is a united view to Government and Build UK is liaising with other industry bodies, including CBI, CECA and CITB, to provide a collective industry response on this issue. It would be helpful if all members could wait to see the Build UK response, which will be circulated for comment by Wednesday 23 September, before submitting an individual company response.
