Build UK members will be opening up construction sites across the country to demonstrate the diverse range of career opportunities available within construction and give people a taste of what it is like to work in the industry.

Open Doors 2016, which will be delivered with Go Construct, will run from Monday 13 – Saturday 18 June, offering young people and those looking for a change of career an exclusive opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of a range of fantastic construction projects.

With construction facing a severe skills shortage and needing to recruit 230,000 people over the next five years, Open Doors is an excellent way of inspiring people to consider a career in the sector and take the next steps to progress into the industry.

Open Doors 2015 saw 115 sites, including Crossrail and the Forth Bridge Replacement Crossing, welcome over 5,500 visitors with excellent feedback and there will be even more opportunities to showcase the range of careers available in 2016 now that Build UK brings together both Main and Specialist Contractors.

Build UK Chairman James Wates said:

“The construction industry is in a war for talent so I am delighted that Build UK and Go Construct will be running Open Doors in 2016 to provide people with a real life insight into our great profession.  It is the perfect platform to show the exciting range of career opportunities we offer and we look forward to welcoming people of all ages onto our member sites in June.”

Build UK members that have projects to showcase what it is like to work in construction will be able to register for Open Doors 2016 from February/March.
