Well, the ink is dry on the 2018 Premier Trophy Awards and I am delighted to report that it was one of the best events ever, and I am extremely proud to have been involved in this, our 30th Anniversary Awards event.

Nearly 200 members and associate partners filled the delightful and impressive Plaisterers’ Hall where we celebrated the awards winners and all that is best in our industry.  We met new friends and said farewell to our good and loyal friend Mr Bob Hewitt, one of our three original Clerks of Works judges who retired on the day after 32 years’ service given to the Awards.

I would like to pay special thanks to our main event sponsors Crown Paints who are generous contributors to the Awards event and the PDA in general, and without whom we would not enjoy our celebrations in such style and in such beautiful surroundings.  Thank you, Crown Paints.

But this prestigious Awards event would be nothing without youour members, and I am making an early appeal to get you thinking about next year’s Premier Trophy Awards, because without your entries, there is no event.  So, don’t be put off by thinking that “it’s not for me” or “my project isn’t big or glamorous enough”.  We welcome entries of all sizes, types and categories, and it’s sometimes the smaller projects where difficulty has been overcome or a complex job has been well executed that catches the eyes of our judges.

It’s easy to enter, so don’t think there’s reams of paperwork to complete.  From now, if you have a job that you think will be a worthy contender for the 2019 Premier Trophy Awards, then take lots of photographs, keep a note of the project, the date and the client, and importantly, the tools and materials used. Complete, and return to us the application form that will be ready online from late August this year. Short listing will take place of all the entries in January 2019. If successful, you will then be contacted to arrange a site visit, by two of our judges from the Institute of Clerks of Works. Good luck everybody!

This year in our Apprentice/Trainee Competition, it was all about ‘girl-power’ with the girls holding their winning trophies aloft at the awards!  Well done to all those who entered!

So if you have an Apprentice who would like to enter either the Northern or Southern Apprentice Trophy Awards Trainee Competition next year, the application form for will be online in due course.

Have a look at this year’s winners on our website here.

Next year it could be you!
