More than 200 aspiring tradespeople are in contention for 25 apprenticeships with Novus Property Solutions after a record-breaking campaign from the maintenance, refurbishment and new build contractor.

The firm launched the biggest apprentice recruitment drive in its history to generate applications for the 25 full-time positions at 13 locations around the UK, with opportunities on offer in carpentry, joinery, decorating and maintenance.

The applicants are being whittled down to a shortlist of candidates who will be put through their paces during the Novus apprentice week in August, which involves a community makeover project and interviews with company directors.

Novus has a long tradition of developing apprentices, and some of the firm's successful recruits from previous apprentice drives will be on hand during selection week to mentor the new hopefuls.

Managing director, Neil Hand, who started out as a Novus apprentice, said: "Our apprentice week in August is an exciting time for the company, as everyone at Novus knows how important apprentices have been to our success over the years.

“The support I received on my apprenticeship with Novus 30 years ago set me up for the rest of my career, and it is great to be able to help young people gain access to the same opportunities that I had.

“We are very proud of our apprenticeship scheme, not just for its longevity but also for the quality of the training and experiences that it offers to the young people who we hope will become the next generation of tradespeople.”
