PATHWAY TO CONSTRUCTION FOR DECORATORS
The Painting and Decorating Association have made the effort to be part of a pilot scheme set up in the North East Region. The scheme allows employers to take on a trainee who has been learning decorating techniques in college but has no on site experience. The scheme has been organised in partnership with Construction Skills and Cross Industry Task Force.
Funds are available to pay for a trainee for 16 weeks at no cost to the decorator, with the possibility of taking the trainee on as an apprentice afterwards. The benefit to the employer is a trial without cost and developing a part trained person to be moulded into the industry.
The scheme is for up to 30 trainees identified covering specifically the Painting and Decorating Industry. The decorative apprentices have been trained in colleges in the following areas:-
Calderdale, Bradford, York, Hull, Doncaster, Durham, Northumberland, Sunderland, Leeds, Guiseley.
If you feel you may be interested in being part of the pilot scheme and taking on an apprentice for 16 weeks for free please contact Keith Watkins on 07793 666027 or keith.watkins@cskills.org.uk
